Now is a good time to remind you all that…
the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense was started to “police the police,” in Oakland, CA, who were murdering Black people
that Dr. Huey P Newton studied political science in college, and had a brother who was a poly-sci professor as well so that…
Brother Huey studied state gun laws and was very clear that Americans had the right to carry arms, even in public, if they did so in accordance with said laws. These tea party crackers are showing us that every day.
some of the earliest duties to the Black community they served were to tail police around the city (a true ride-along) and make sure the police didn’t brutalize or murder members of the community. At least, not while the Panthers were on the scene. Many a Black person’s life was saved because of that service to their communities.
all BPP members were required to take political education classes taught in the community by BPP members
While you can’t and shouldn’t try to reinvent the wheel, there are some aspects of BPP history that are worth revisiting. And I think the idea of policing the police in our communities is one of them. We’ve got guns, and we’ve got plenty of young brothers in our communities with time enough on their hands to do the job. They obviously know how to shoot, too. And since they are the ones being preyed upon by the police…
The question is… are they brave enough to confront the police the way they do each other? Are they disciplined enough to learn what it takes to carry a weapon openly in public and NOT be in violation of the gun laws of their state? Are they committed enough to go all the way when (not if) necessary, or proud and loving enough of their people lay down their lives to protect them? Because they WILL be tried. Agents of the State killed many many Panthers. Real talk.
What have we got to lose?
The police are obviously not planning to stop preying on Black men any time soon. And the sham-ass court system is NOT dispensing anything resembling real justice in these cases, so…
WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO Y’ALL???
